We are currently seeking an Environmental/Safety Coordinator (ESC) to work in support of the Fort Campbell Logistics Support Services (LSS) contract (contingent upon win).
The ESC will provide Safety directives, assist managers and supervisors in safety and environmental matters, will coach employees on ways to bring resolution to safety and environment improvement opportunities, and assists the Quality Manager to implement tools and systems to support the project’s goals of continuous improvement in safety and environmental matters.
Duties and Responsibilities (to include but not be limited to the following):
Ensures implementation of OSHA procedures and regulations across the program
Maintains OSHA record-keeping requirements
Conducts safety and environmental training to management, employees, suppliers and visitors as necessary; participates in technical knowledge improvement opportunities as requested
Coordinates various safety and environmental sampling and testing
Remains current on changes to OSHA and environmental requirements
Leads, directs, coaches, and motivates employees in a results-oriented way and ensures direct reports engage their employees in the same manner through empowerment, ownership, accountability, and safety operational excellence
Collaborates with site, divisional and corporate leadership to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the production efforts and processes to eliminate unsafe actions while complying with all federal, state, and local entities
Drives the understanding and implementation of Corporate Environmental/Safety policies and procedures and measures the effectiveness of Operational Excellence
Demonstrates depth and breadth of knowledge in the area of hazard recognition, evaluation and control
Implements Corporate Environmental/Safety program in a fact based and objective manner
Completes Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental audits
Recommends, justifies, implements, and manages safety devices, equipment, and/or products that help protect employees and customers and mitigate losses
Attains assigned objectives such as Employee Injury Frequency, Serious Injury Frequency, and other objectives as assigned
Serves as liaison to external professional organizations and regulatory groups
Leads environmental initiatives and legislative activities to ensure development and implementation of proactive and comprehensive environmental compliance initiatives
Manages location's Safety and Loss Prevention, Regulatory training Occupational Health, and Waste Management efforts
Provides leadership to ensure Environmental/Safety objectives are met and achieved ensuring customer expectations are identified and fulfilled, and regulatory compliance is achieved and maintained
Champions the use for applicable quality processes to support the business
Provides leadership to motivate and stimulate employees and staff to actively support vision and purpose
Ensures that the location is in compliance with all federal, state or local laws, and corporate and/or other regulatory agency requirements
Ability to work in an ever changing environment and drive to continuously improve work practices
Performs all other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
Must possess a working knowledge and experience in ISO- 14001 compliance and must have an advanced working knowledge of OSHA policy and procedures
A minimum of 3 years of experience in specific safety positions in an industrial/technical setting.
OSHSAS 18001 certification is preferred.The Coordinator will be required to gain certification as both aan Environmental Quality Officer (EQO) and Safety Officer on location at government provided courses.
Minimum four (4) year college degree required from an accredited educational institution, recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Must have Secret Security Clearance or be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
