Network Threat Support Specialist (NTSS)
Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Technical Solutions division is a professional services organization providing mission-critical and practical solutions to a wide variety of government and commercial customers worldwide. Our Columbia, MD office is currently seeking Network Threat Support Specialists (NTSS).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Discover unknown or suspicious exploitation activities utilizing relevant tools and databases;
Evaluate operating systems, network configurations, and architectures to identify vulnerabilities;
Analyze, map, or discover vulnerabilities, intrusions, and threats in computer network systems;
Gather intelligence information on threat activity through Computer Network Operations (CNO), SIGINT and/or other intelligence disciplines;
Identify adversary signatures, attach scenarios, and profiles;
Perform analysis of intrusion incidents and network traffic to detect malicious activity;
Develop defensive countermeasures;
Prepare formal documentation or reports of analysis and/or research results;
Present technical briefings and conduct oral discussions;
Collaborate and communicate with customers and partners.Qualifications and Experience:Required-
Use of CNO and SIGINT customer tools and databases;
Bachelor’s degree in electrical or computer engineering, computer science or mathematics coupled with 3 years’ continuous experience;
6 years’ continuous experience may be considered in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
Strong understanding of network protocols and network and operating system vulnerabilities;
In-depth experience with reverse-engineering of malware;
A background which demonstrates the ability to discover and recover from network intrusions;
Understanding of how to implement corrective security controls to prevent future intrusions;
Required tools to include several of the following: Wireshark/Ethereal, Nessus, Snort, tcpdump, tcp wrapper, IDS, ISS scanner, eEye digital vulnerability scanner;
Required certifications to include at least one of the following: GCIH, CNDA, DoD Forensic Examiner, DoD Media Collector, Security+, Cisco CCNA and other related network certifications.Desired -
In-depth experience in network intrusion forensics;
Bachelor’s degree with 5 years' continuous experience, or 8 years’ continuous experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree;
Expertise in intelligence analysis and/or computer networking technologies;
Experience organizing training on analysis, tools or reporting; leading/mentoring junior team members.Security:
Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance
