Camber Corporation Lead Research Scientist (Behavioral) 15650 in Monterey, California
This position is within Camber's Assessment group, a component of the Software and Network Engineering business unit. The Assessment group is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high stakes tests and other tests used for personnel selection, classification, and proficiency. Our customers trust us to provide guidance at all phases to ensure a legally defensible test program that exemplifies industry standards.
The position is located in Monterey, CA. The individual selected for this position will serve as the Lead Research Scientist and provide support to the project. This person is responsible for the general conduct of studies and makes major contributions to the design, formulation, and implementation of studies and projects. Major duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
*Plan, design, and lead research using behavioral science principles, methodologies, and technologies in a theoretical and applied setting. Generate/contribute to new or modified methods that support R&D of processes, systems, and technologies used in assessment for a variety of purposes.
*Design psychological measurement instruments as needed to evaluate testing program issues. Design content and sensitivity reviews. Design test specifications and procedures for test development and implementation and detection of test compromise, including obtaining government and human subject protection approvals.
*Function as an expert in major activities of the projects such as the design, development, and validiation of cognitive and non-cognitive assessments and the evaluation of geographic, demographic , and other characteristics of populations.
*Assume responsibility for the technical quality and timeliness of research projects.
*Translate findings into succinct, actionable insights. Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals, make customer presentations, and contribute to proposal efforts.
The following requirements must be met:
*Minimum of a Master's degree in a behavioral science field, plus 15 years of related work experience; or a Ph.D. in a behavioral science field, plus 10 years or related work experience. Examples of acceptable degrees include industrial/organizational psychology, research and evaluation, organizational behavior, or educational psychology.
*Must be a US citizen with at minimum a National Agency Check & Inquiries (NACI) personnel background investigation. Must be capable of obtaining a security clearance at the required level of access.
Significant experience with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures in accordance with professional testing standards. Significant experience with standard setting, reliability, validity, and prediction ability of assessments.
*Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Able to maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of technical and scientific personnel and teams as well as client managers.
The following is desired, but not required:
*Knowledge of non-cognitive measures, situational judgment test items, and other innovative item types
*Good skills with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
*Good skills with SPSS, R, or any other statistical software
*Provide mentoring to other employees as regards project-related activities
