Senior Software Specialist

Requirements:

  • The selected applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

  • Current Secret security clearance.

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (e.g., Business, Mathematics, etc.), + ten (10) years of general experience and six (6) years of relevant experience.

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline + twelve (12) years of general experience and eight (8) years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of master’s degree.

  • Possess a Cyber-security Workforce or Windows Server 2008R2/2012R certification.

  • Minimum of four years’ experience with Government information systems.

  • Experience to include:

  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting virtual data center environments.

  • Administering web-based application servers (i.e., Java Application Servers (Tomcat 7/8), Internet Information Services (IIS) 7+, Jetty 8+, ActiveMQ, and Karaf (OSGi).

  • Java/JSP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, Dojo, JQuery, Grails, PHP, and DotNet.

  • MS SQL 2012, Postgre SQL, and MySQL.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Level III certification in Information Technology or Engineering or the civilian equivalent

  • Active secret clearance

Duties:

  • Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure in a Virtual Data Center environment.

  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.

  • Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.

  • Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers to implement those fixes.

  • Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.

  • Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.

  • Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd level technical support.

  • Liaise with vendors and other Information Technology (IT) personnel for problem resolution.

  • Travel up to ten percent (10%) in order to perform assigned tasks.
